British customers looking into buying the new Sony Ericsson XPERIA X2 should know that Vodafone UK has confirmed the Windows Mobile-powered handset has been dropped from their portfolio. Although a really powerful device that gets to your heart with its amazing specs, the XPERIA X2 has been delayed numerous times until now “due to extended testing — probably the reason why Vodafone UK decided to go without.

Last we heard, the high end device was expected to launch in the first week of January 2010, which is obviously not going to happen. And to be honest there’s no light at the end of the tunnel either. “Sony Ericsson is disappointed not to make this phone available to consumers in the UK but 2010 will see the company offering a number of innovative, stand-out products in the market”, the company announced.

For those out of the know, the new Sony Ericsson XPERIA X2 boasts a 3.2″ WVGA (800 x 480) 65k color OLED touchscreen display, has a 8.1MP camera with auto focus, dual flash, Geo-tagging & video capture capabilities, Bluetooth v2.1 with A2DP & WiFi wireless connectivity, built-in GPS (aGPS) and an accelerometer. On top of that there’s Windows Mobile 6.5 OS (Win Mobile 7 supported) to run the show, a built-in FM radio tuner and a 3.5mm headphone jack. Pretty heavy, eh?
